I bought a 32in. Element TV on 03/14/2011 from Walmart.

This TV only lasted until 08/05/2014. I paid $309. I felt like I wasted my money. I am upset because I have old model televisions that have lasted for 15 years and I can't get this up-to-date technology to last for 5.

I bought a 40in. RCA at the same time and it's still going!! I think that the manufacturer should compensate in some type of way with a replacement or have a repair plan for anything less than 5 years old.

I see why people stick with what they know but I wanted to give an unknown brand a chance. Well, so much for giving an unknown a chance!!!

Reason of review: Damaged or defective.

Monetary Loss: $309.

Preferred solution: I would like for the manufacturer to replace with another one or allow me to take it to a place and have it fixed at there expense, or give me half of my money back!.

Location: Memphis, Tennessee

Element and RCA (there is no longer an RCA. It is only a nameplate) are made by the same Chinese manufacturer.

Element, however, is made in the USA. Detroit to be exact.?? That's the reason I bought one.

NONE of the new technology TVs have the life span of the old style ones. Under normal use, you're lucky if they last 4 years.

I bought a 32" led element in November 2013 and it lasted until March 2014, what a waste. One day the screen started getting choppy, I smelled burning plastic, and the tv shut off.

The only thing that comes on is the red light and its steady.

But that's what I get for being frugal. This sucks, I threw my box tv out so I'm out a tv in my bedroom

The warranty for an element tv sucks. My son shipped his back under warranty and months later still waiting for replacement.

Call and get different answer every time. I'll never buy one again.

Element, like so many other brands now, are lower tier brands designed to offer the consumer a cheaper price. If you are honest, the reason you purchased it was not "to give an unknown brand a chance" but because the unit was cheaply priced.

Unfortunately, I've got to tell you that RCA is no different these days. Just because the brand is one you recognize doesn't mean it's assembled and sold with the same format. The "manufacturers" of these brands generally don't build any parts themselves, only purchase less expensive and less reliable parts from major OEMs (original equipment manufacturers). Once these assembled TVs have any issues, the customer generally finds that local service is unavailable and assumes the problem of getting the TV back to the manufacturer for service.

Original boxes and packaging is generally required for shipping. Assuming the consumer hasn't retained these, the manufacturer generally will charge you a substantial fee to send you all of it new.

In addition, the cost of shipping is generally placed upon the shoulders of the consumer so, even if the unit may be within warranty guidelines, the unit is not free to get serviced and generally discarded.

In the future, pay more and buy a more reliable brand. Doing so doesn't mean the product cannot break admittedly, it just makes it less likely.
